Monkaaba

This coffee is now in our rescue beans category - these beans are 3 months from the roast date, which is when most roasters recommend consuming them. However, they are still well within their best-before date and remain full of character and perfectly brewable.

Monkaaba was founded in 2020 by Esnaider Ortega Gómez and Didier Ortega, with a focus on transparency, fairness, and producer-led coffee production. In collaboration with Semilla, they built a model centered on quality and direct support at origin.

Based in San Agustín, Huila, Monkaaba started with six families and has grown to around 80 producers. The project is built on strong community values, long-term relationships, and shared development across the supply chain.

Monkaaba is fully producer-led, with farmers involved in every stage from farm to export. Coffee is cupped blind with feedback shared directly, helping improve quality while keeping the system transparent and accessible.

Washed Pink Bourbon

This lot combines Pink Bourbon from several top producers in San Agustín to achieve both consistent quality and larger volume. Producers are paid significantly above local FNC pricing. The result is a clean, floral cup with bright red fruit, juicy acidity, and a balanced structure.
