He primarily works with Typica Mejorado, a selected variety originally developed in Ecuador, valued for its combination of yield and cup quality. Through CafExporto, Juan has expanded his genetic material and farming methods to new farms, applying the same meticulous agronomic standards across different regions.Yacuri Typica
In Zamora-Chinchipe, southern Ecuador, CafExporto identified exceptional coffees from small producers that were previously sold into the internal market with limited transparency or value recognition.The Yacuri farm sits in a rural, low-altitude, high-humidity area near the Amazon basin and the Chinchipe River, resulting in a different expression compared to Hacienda La Papaya. Here, the washed Typica shows a softer profile, with stone fruit sweetness, white tea notes, and a more rounded, gentle acidity compared to the brighter citrus character of higher-altitude lots.All La Cabra coffees are roasted for both filter and espresso.
